The art detective Johann Friedrich von Allmen, of all people, was staying in a high-class Zurich hotel when a multi-million dollar dahlia painting disappeared from the owner's private suite. What could be more obvious to the eccentric Dahlia Gutbauer than to entrust "Allmen International Inquiries" with the discreet replacement? As with the theft at the time, Allmen suspects romantic motives and targets the unscrupulous businessman Rebler, who is in a relationship with the enchantingly beautiful psychologist Dalia Scheidegger. For the art detective, she is the key to the case - especially since her former friend Claude Tenz also seems to be involved.
