Three gangsters, grandfather, father and son, kidnap Mathilde de Blanzac with the intention of extorting the large sum from her wealthy financier husband. The bandits sequester their victim in an isolated farm and entrust her to the care of a certain Petitjean, a scarecrow maker. In the meantime, an aviator lieutenant, Hubert de Pifre, inadvertently ejected from his Mirage III by parachute and landed on the roof of the farm.
