Behind-the-scenes, or perhaps, before-the-production, documentary of Fellini's version of Casanova which includes interviews with stars, experts, biographers about what Casanova means to Italian culture, to men's perceptions of their role in society, and to how Fellini might approach the subject. This "mockumentary" is akin to Fellini's Director's Notebook in that he's participating behind the scenes to confound the public's perception of the topic at hand, rather than a true objective documentary. While an early narrative notes the film has been "suspended," suggesting this film was produced during the period when production was shut down in late 1975, this was shown in Italian TV in May 1975 so the origin of this film is a pre-release PR-related production. This feature is included as an extra on the French Carlotta blu-ray of Casanova.
