In a tranquil small town near Vienna, girls between the ages of 18 and 20 have been disappearing without a trace at ever shorter intervals. The population is concerned and accuses the police of incompetence. Because Commissioner Degener got no further, a citizens' initiative was formed to protect young people. When the 19-year-old student Jeanny, who is still looking for her place in her family and society, meets the mysterious but charming tax consultant Johannes, this encounter is initially threatening.
