Oscar C. Apfel (17 gennaio 1878 – 21 Marzo 1938) è stato un cantautore e attore cinematografico, regista, sceneggiatore e produttore. Egli è apparso in 167 film tra il 1913 e il 1939, e anche la regia 94 film tra il 1911 e il 1927. Apfel è nato a Cleveland, Ohio. Dopo un certo numero di anni in commercio, ha deciso di adottare il palco come una professione. Ha svolto il suo primo impegno professionale nel 1900, nella sua città natale. Si alzò rapidamente e ben presto ha tenuto una posizione di regista e produttore, e fu al tempo indicato come il più giovane regista in America.[1] Ha trascorso undici anni sulle scene di Broadway, poi unite la Edison Manufacturing Company. Apfel primo diretto per Thomas A. Edison, Inc. nel 1911-12, dove ha realizzato l'innovativo cortometraggio Il Passante (1912). Ha fatto anche qualche lavoro sperimentale presso Edison laboratorio in Arancione, la Edison Talking Pictures dispositivi. Dopo molti anni come direttore, ha gradualmente restituito alla recitazione. Il 21 Marzo 1938, Apfel è morto a Hollywood per un attacco di cuore.
