For the successful scientist Nela, work and private life are not a contradiction in terms. The renowned primate researcher plans to travel to Africa soon for her new project. Her marriage to the lawyer Josch, who fights with great commitment against the unjustified deportation of asylum seekers, is still harmonious. The surprising accidental death of Josch's ex-girlfriend Rosanna puts the well-rehearsed couple before an unexpected test. The deceased leaves behind her 14-year-old daughter Aimée, who is severely traumatized after the traffic accident and does not speak.
