Lana is 14 years old and has been caring for her seriously ill father for many years. Her mother has two jobs to keep the family financially afloat and is therefore rarely at home. Even when Lana was 8 years old, she was responsible for getting medical help in an emergency. Lana's situation is similar to that of most children and young people who provide care at a young age: the burden she carries remains invisible to others.
